Muscle spasms
Muscle spasms are the result of involuntary muscle contractions, most commonly caused by stress, maintaining a poor posture for too long, muscle fatigue, dehydration, or overuse of a specific area of the body.
Although muscle spasms are a more or less common condition, there are a number of factors that can trigger a pattern and become a cause for alarm for patients. Some of these risk factors include age, being overweight or obese, pregnant women, or high-level athletes.
Although there is no need to panic, if you have identified a pattern of muscle spasms, it is best to consult your doctor, as it could be part of the clinical picture of a more serious condition.
Better hydration, along with moderate physical exercise and proper warm-up before training, are some of the practices that can help improve your condition. Discover how a therapist’s intervention can contribute to the relief of these symptoms.
