Dorsal sprain
A dorsal sprain is a sudden injury to the muscles, tendons, and soft tissues of the back. It occurs when these tissues are overstretched, potentially causing microscopic tears. This can lead to inflammation in the surrounding area, resulting in pain and a limitation in the range of motion.
Strains and sprains of the back are common and can lead to chronic pain. They typically occur when the back muscles are overstretched or overused during an activity. They can result from a fall, heavy lifting, or excessive bending.

Osteopathic intervention for injuries such as dorsal sprains aims to relieve pain and restore mobility. This will be accompanied by medically recommended rest or physical methods, including hot or cold compresses to alleviate pain. In severe cases, however, surgical intervention may be necessary.
